Time is relative, but I always seem to relate to it as a scarce commodity. Never enough, I’m always running out of it, I’m too old.
What I’m working on here in this musical idea is attempting to take the standard pop music framework and bend the harmony out just a little further than what’s expected. I’m not trying to achieve that end but using a complex chord structure but by thinking about the movement between the chords… what can I do differently there?
As is my new habit I have taken on with these song ideas I try to keep the instrumentation as minimal as possible until vocals are added. Once the vocals are fully realized then I can paint with the other colors available to me. Hopefully we can watch this journey from idea to fruition unfold together.
