Yes I grew up in a small city that has one indoor mall. Only my Mom and her grandchildren come accomplish that feat.
Anywhoo, as I was walking through the mall someone called out Mr. Orr. Which never happens and my Mom doesn’t think of me as Mr. anything
I’ve often been told that the pay off from teaching comes years later…I was in hometown a few days ago and I actually went to the mall.
I’ve said a million times: More music/less industry.
Happy Friday!
He was telling me about some of the things that he’s up to and how he has his own business, which was in the mall and he is also promoting
It was one of my former students that I used to work with at a music/youth center who I haven’t seen in almost a decade.
That was easy because we gave them an outlet for something they enjoyed. Gave and demanded respect. Validated their creativity.
When I worked at the center teachers, parents and even P.O.’s would ask how do you get these guys to do what they are supposed to do?
Trouble. That brief conversation made up for any strife, negativity or any ill feelings that I have concerning that part in my life.
Events etc. He said that I and one of my coworkers were very instrumental in inspiring him to want to be successful and to stay out of
Music center. This was before the big chains invaded every hamlet. This was strictly mom&pop. These folks trusted with my word and a few
I remember being a scrawny 15y.o. who didn’t know the first thing about running a P.A. But I had gotten a gig and gone down to the local
To borrow from Dr. West: You really do have to “Love the people in order to lead them!”
Wanna talk about love…if it wasn’t for the fact that some people saw fit to love me, I wouldn’t be doing this music thing myself.
Crumpled up dollars. Because they trusted me and I felt that implicit trust that was a relationship that I learned so much from.
Sometimes I think my bandmates think I can be difficult. When it comes to business I have a low threshold for b.s.

I learned in arranging that repeated notes are boring/awkward for the player. They are also boring for the listener. There are 12 notes…
Morning! One more day to Shashafafa…
Your price is your price and you don’t owe anybody anything and people like that aren’t doing you any favors…
The amount of money this clown was offering to pay I get for playing most wedding ceremonies by myself. Oh but it gets better…
Then you want to make all kinds of stipulations about this and that, for that little bit of money. I told my bandmates what he could do 4 me
Case in point you contact us at the last minute for a function this weekend that’s a formal at luxury hotel and you only offer peanuts…
I think there is entirely too much emphasis on what a track sounds like. Sometimes that’s a cart before the horse moment. Writing to a track
Start with a great melody and story. There are infinite ways that the underlying arrangement can go. But melody/story are king.

In every life a little snake oil must be applied…sometimes it just makes you feel better, even though it’s not a remedy.
I think I have finally recovered from the lost weekend. I guess this would be a good time to be productive.
Hope everyone has a great day… I’m off to do several playing engagements I think I’ll be done tomorrow.
Back from the gig and suffering with my usual I’m s,till in gig mode energy level but I need to get some sleep. I have 3 performances today

Maybe the Pres. can offer “profound regret” but still offer #noapologies for what he said.
They way I would like the Pres. to address this apology request is to look straight in to the camera and say: “They call me Mr. Tibbs”

This #noapologies trend can go either way.
If the Pres. apologizes,I have no words.Take color out of the equation.I don’t think many would not be miffed by dumb questions.
I’m abt to start a new trending topic #noapologies When I was a kid and did stupid things, the people that loved me pointed them out. Helps
RT @MzReport Too many people have their mind closed, eyes shut and deaf ears but yet they have their mouths wide open.
What a concept: They still make instruments and people still play them. Hmm, I might be on to something…

True story: My mom’s boss at her very first job would never meet with her and her colleagues. Reason: He said he was allergic to them.
